Abstract: The localized oscillating wave packets were created using off-resonant and resonant vibrational excitation with short intense infrared laser pulses. The simultaneous irradiation by a resonant and off-resonant intense infrared laser pulse was used to obtain the vibrational excitation of randomly oriented heteronuclear diatomic molecules. An ultraviolet laser pulse in resonance at the outer turning point of the vibrational motion is used to dissociate the oscillating molecules, leading to the spatial control of the photofragment distribution.
