Abstract: The existence of positive solutions for singular initial and boundary value problems via the classical upper and lower solution approach was discussed. The singular problem was approximated by a sequence of non-singular problems and a solution for each approximating problems was generated using standard results from the classical theory of upper and lower solutions. The results showed that the obtained sequences converge to a solution of the given singular problem.
