ScholarBank@NUS Repository.https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/16040Conventional storage technologies such as hard disk drive, compact disc, digitalversatile disk, and blu-ray disc rely on the track-based paradigm i.e. they storeinformation along tracks that are well separated in order to eliminate inter-trackinterference. This storage paradigm is two-dimensional (2-D); however it uses thesecond dimension only loosely. Holographic data storage (HDS), on the other hand, breaks the density bottleneck of conventional storage technologies by utilizing thepage-oriented paradigm that stores information in the form of 2-D holograms. Vaststorage densities are achievable by multiplexing several holograms throughout thevolume of the media. In addition, the page-oriented nature of HDS allows for highdata rates by retrieving the entire hologram with a single flash of light. Thus, HDSis a promising technology for the increasing demands of information systems. In this work we developed channel models and detectors for HDS.enModeling Detection Holographic Storage BCJR channelModeling and detection for holographic data storageThesisNOT_IN_WOS
