Abstract: A cladistic analysis of Chinese genera of family Sematophyllaceae was conducted. The family, as defined traditionally, was shown to be paraphyletic. Isocladiella, Taxithelium and Callicladium were shown nested outside the Sematophyllum clade. Brotherella-Wijkia-Acanthorrhynchium-Warburgiella and Heterophyllium-Clastobryopsis-Gammiella are two sister clades of Sematophyllum clade.
