dc.description.abstract | A rapid and flexible propagation system for Heliconia psittacorum was developed using thin sections (1 mm) of the base of in vitro plantlets. When cultured on Murashige and Skoog medium in the presence of 10 μM 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) the explants produced rooted plantlets. Forty to 80 μM 2,4-D induced the formation of highly morphogenic callus. When subcultured on basal medium, this callus produced protocorm-like bodies that developed into plantlets. © 1995. | |
