Abstract: This paper describes a new stroke and feature point extraction method for the recognition of printed Chinese characters of multiple fonts and various sizes. Based on our experimental study using 8 sets of Chinese character fonts, each comprising 3755 Chinese characters, this method is shown to be more stable compared to traditional methods. © 1991 Elsevier Science Publihers B. V. (North Holland).
