Title: | Effect of foreign particles on the growth of faceted crystal faces | Authors: | Liu, X.Y. | Issue Date: | Nov-2000 | Citation: | Liu, X.Y. (2000-11). Effect of foreign particles on the growth of faceted crystal faces. Journal of Chemical Physics 113 (19) : 8807-8816. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. https://doi.org/10.1063/1.1318739 | Abstract: | The effect of foreign particles on the growth and surface instability of growing crystals was analyzed using a heterogeneous two dimensional nucleation model. The occurrence of foreign particles on the surface of growing crystals serves as a precursor for heterogeneous 2D nucleation. A needlelike pattern of surface instability caused by solid particle induced growth was observed for the naphthalene crystals grown from the melt. | Source Title: | Journal of Chemical Physics | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/96305 | ISSN: | 00219606 | DOI: | 10.1063/1.1318739 |
