dc.description.abstract | Detailed Raman studies of the symmetric stretch mode v1 of the NO- 3 ion in a large number of ionic nitrate crystals have confirmed the presence of an anomalous weak component not predicted by factor group analysis based on known crystal structure. This weak component belongs to an "alternative structure" (AS), which is a secondary structure coexisting with the main crystal structure. We calculate the proportion of an AS, the changes of the preferred AS at different pressures, as well as AS-main structure phase transitions. © 1993. | |
