dc.description.abstractTo complete the study of facade effect of buildings flanking the expressway, a prediction model for computing the L10 due to buildings on both sides of the expressway has been derived semi-empirically. As discussed in Part I. buildings on one side of the expressway increase the L10 at 1 m from the facade by 2·3 dB(A) over the sound level in open space. Buildings on both sides increase the corresponding level by as much as 3·7 dB(A). Also it is found that the L10 increases with the height of the buildings on both sides of the expressway. This facade effect is not significant if the receiver is at a distance of 40m or more away from the buildings. © 1991.
