dc.description.abstractThe aim of this work is to assess the performance of different corrosion scales as effective copper corrosion inhibitors using synthetic waters and distribution system waters. The major objective of the study was to evaluate the stability of an artificially synthesized Cu2O film and naturally formed heterogeneous corrosion scales under the influence of a number of synthetic and real waters, using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). Cu2O coatings were synthesized by using a special flame aerosol deposition process. Based upon the EIS data, conclusions regarding the stability of the different scales under typical water quality conditions, (which are commonly encountered in water distribution systems), are drawn.
