dc.description.abstract | The protonations of the emeraldine (EM) oxidation state of polyaniline (PAN) by non-volatile protonic acids, such as H2SO4 and HClO4, have been studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The properly resolved N(1s) core-level spectra reveal that a large proportion of the amine nitrogens in the EM base powders and films is also susceptible to protonation when the samples are loaded with excessive non-volatile acids. © 1992. | |
