ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||Two new monomers, N-allyl, N′-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl urea (monomer-1) and N-m-isopropenyl-α,α′-dimethyl benzyl, N′-4-2,2,6,5-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl urea (monomer-2), were prepared by direct addition reaction of 4-amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidine (ATMP) to allyl isocyanate (AI) and m-isopropenyl-α,α′-dimethyl benzyl isocyanate (m-TMI) at room temperature without catalyst. The structures of these two monomers were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, XPS, MS and elemental analysis.
