ScholarBank@NUS Repository. https://doi.org/10.1061/41182(416)76||Abstract:||Design for deconstruction is a way of thinking about and designing a building to maximize its flexibility and to ensure that a building can be disassembled for various reasons such as aged community or after becoming obsolete. The goal of designing for deconstruction is to design building elements to be easily disassembled. This paper presents a framework to enhance the design for disassembled building systems for the construction of new facility using IFC. The framework integrates architectural design with the ability of disassembly and constructability in four main modules. The first module extracts building components' properties from IFC and creates an internal data structure. The second module utilizes created data structure to construct a graph data model. The third module generates possible disassembly solutions based on disassembly criteria.
