Abstract: The study of particle size dependence of the rhombohedral phase of relaxor ferroelectric Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3 (PZN) and PbTiO3 was presented. The study was based on the development of a model explaining the particle size dependence via full width at half-maximum (FWHM) analysis of rhombohedral x-ray diffraction lines. The analysis show the transformation stresses to be responsible for the line broadening of rhombohedral peaks. The model determined the rhombohedral phase to be about 55-70 μm.
