Application is made to flat obtuse-angle wedge. Bearing capacity for the flat obtuse-angle wedge is obtained. Influences of anisotropic damage on bearing capacity factors of shallow and deep foundations, earth pressure of retaining wall are analyzed in this paper. For deep and shallow foundations, bearing capacity factors, Nq decrease with the increase in damage variables, D1 and D2. When D1 is constant, the factor of active earth pressure, Naq increases with the increase in D2 while the factor of passive earth pressure, Npq decreases with the increase in D2. When D2 is constant, Naq decreases with the increase in D1 while Npq increases with the increase in D1. © 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd.
