A material is generally thought to undergo transverse contraction (or expansion) when axially stretched (or compressed). Hence in the elastic property known as Poisson's ratio, a negative sign is introduced to give a positive value. In this paper, a quantitative definition for Poisson-curving is introduced and the amount of thickness change is detailed in the light of this definition.
