Abstract: We have experimentally investigated the effects of Ca2+ site substitution by bigger Ba2+ ions in charge ordered La0.5Ca0.5MnO3 on structural and transport properties. The results show that the samples with lower Ba-doping (x < 0.3) are of orthorhombic structure. Along with the increasing of Ba content, hexagonal phase BaMnO3 appears, indicating the two phases in the samples with x ≥ 0.3. The biphasic structure greatly affects the behaviors of resistivity and magnetoresistance of La0.5Ca0.5-xBaxMnO3.
