Next Generation Genomic Technologies have provided enormous capacity for deep comprehensive characterization at multiple levels of the central dogma. However, translating this new knowledge and technological advance into addressing clinical questions has been slow and challenging. A key to accelerating this translation is matching the right enabling molecular technologies to a specific identified clinical need. . I hypothesize that appropriate matching of specific types of genetic aberrations characterized by appropriate next generation genomic technological tools to specific identified clinical indications will facilitate translation of next generation technologies to address clinical questions in oncology. To do so, I examined three paradigms ¿ Tumor Gene Expression (transcriptome/mRNA), Germline Sequence alterations (genome/DNA sequence) and Somatic Gene Sequence alterations using appropriate enabling technologies for specific application in addressing specific clinical questions.
