dc.description.abstract | In a recent project in Singapore, cement mixed Singapore marine clay was used as land reclamation fill. This research was set out to devise an effective early QC technique for the cement mixed clay fill in land reclamation. The early strength behaviour of cement mixed Singapore marine clay was first investigated. In this investigation, the effect of curing temperature on the early strength behaviour was studied. It was found that the relation between setting time and curing temperature is governed by the Arrhenius law. The effect of curing temperature on the long-term strength development was also investigated. It was found that the relation between the ultimate strength and the curing temperature is governed by an Arrhenius-type relation. An accelerated strength test based on elevated temperature curing was proposed in this study as an early QC technique. The applicability of this proposed QC technique is validated by laboratory tests. | |
