dc.description.abstract | The performance of an analog optical fiber link carrying 12 video channels is investigated. Optical wavelength-division multiplexing is used at 1230 and 1315 nm with an FM-FDM format for the video channels. The link comprises two InGaAsP multimode laser transmitters, a graded index fiber, and two InGaAs pin-FET receivers. The system is characterized in terms of parameters such as received power level P//R, frequency deviation f//D and channel spacing f//S. Weighted SNR values exceeding 54 dB are achieved on all 12 channels with P//R equals minus 15 dBm, f//D equals 3 MHz and f//S equals 32 MHz. Crosstalk between the optical wavelengths is negligible. | |
