Abstract: The paper presents a general method of analysis of the reluctance-augmented shaded-pole motor. The analysis involves the solution of a set of equations formulated in terms of harmonic inductance coefficients and harmonic currents. The air gap permeance variation is accounted for by representing the self and mutual inductances of the windings as harmonic series which are functions of the rotor position. Analytical and experimental results are compared.
