dc.description.abstractA 3-D target is modelled by multiple scatterers on its surface. The back-scattering of each of the scatterers is calculated and used to scale the return signals at the antenna receiver. Speckle is modelled as multi-scattering centre within one resolution cell. A resolution cell is divided into several smaller facets which are Gaussian randomly tilted and the back-scattering calculated and summed within that resolution cell. The 2-D SAR raw data is obtained by vector summation of scatterers. Simulations are carried out using several target models e.g., a flat plane, a box on a flat plane, and a communication antenna on a flat plane and the results are found to be satisfactory. The SAR return signal and subsequently the SAR image generated uses the Range Migration Algorithm (RMA).
