Abstract: This paper presents a simple inverter switching strategy that achieves direct torque control and dead-beat control of stator flux. In the proposed predictive control scheme, the switching information is obtained directly from the error in flux. This approach is simpler than the methods of torque and flux control in which a reference voltage vector is generated to obtain the inverter duty cycle. The distinct advantages of this scheme lie in achieving a constant switching frequency operation and excellent performance at low operating frequencies.
