dc.description.abstract | Considering the setting of classical proportional navigation that relies solely on line-of-sight measurements, this paper presents a sliding mode guidance law for the planar homing problem subjected to pure measurement delay. The proposed guidance law is formulated after a previous modified PNG law by replacing the LOS rate σ̇ with the switching control sign(σ̇). A simple LOS rate estimator is introduced. Moreover, a closed-loop filtering architecture is employed to remove chattering. This simulation-based study shows that the proposed guidance law is able to outperform PNG laws in the presence of delay. © 2008 by National University of Singapore. | |
