Abstract: A compact 2D (two-dimensional) FDFD (finite-difference frequency-domain) method is implemented to extract the frequency-dependent circuit parameters for uniform transmission lines. The compact 2D FDFD method employs a formulation with only four components of the electromagnetic fields and finally results in an eigenvalue problem. Upon solving the resultant large eigenvalue problem using the Implicitly Restarted Arnoldi method, the circuit parameters (R, L, C, G) for the transmission lines can be extracted via 1D transmission line theory. Numerical examples are given to validate the method presented in this paper.
