Abstract: Experimental dynamic modeling and characterisations of disk platter resonances were presented. Experimental results were captured via the scanning LDV to provide the mode shapes and power spectra of vibrations. A simple peak detector algorithm was written in MATLAB to identify the resonant peaks. Resonant frequencies and amplitude of vibrations at higher rpms could be predicted using a limited range of rotation at higher rpms.
