dc.description.abstract | The Augmented Reality Post-It (AR Post-It) messaging system uses the mobile phone as an augmented reality (AR) interface allowing users to view electronic messages in an AR context. The distinguishing feature of the system is that the messages are displayed only when the receiver is present at the location specified by the sender. Our system does not use any sophisticated location tracking technology, instead making use of simple fiducial markers to tag different locations. The sender posts messages over the internet to the mobile phone user, specifying the location where the message should be displayed. These messages are stored in a central server, and downloaded onto the phone when the recipient uses her phone's digital camera to view a marker. Copyright 2004 ACM. | |
