dc.description.abstractWe introduce a portable computer platform-based video coding/streaming system based on H.264 video compression standard. The system is implemented in software, which promises flexibility to incorporate new algorithms. Due to the high complexity of H.264, existing approaches in the literature are incorporated and new approaches are also proposed during the realization of the system. In addition, the key modules of H.264 coding and decoding structure are efficiently implemented and optimized at the source code level. The results indicate that the system proposed and developed has successfully reached the aim of real-time H.264 video coding/streaming.
