Title: | Encapsulation of quantum nanodots in polystyrene and silica micro-/nanoparticles | Authors: | Yang, X. Zhang, Y. |
Issue Date: | 6-Jul-2004 | Citation: | Yang, X., Zhang, Y. (2004-07-06). Encapsulation of quantum nanodots in polystyrene and silica micro-/nanoparticles. Langmuir 20 (14) : 6071-6073. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. https://doi.org/10.1021/la049610t | Abstract: | The polystyrene particles of controlled sizes on both micro- and nanolevels and incorporate quantum dots (QD) into nanoparticle were synthesized. Silica particles coatings were made on polystyrene particles encapsulating QDs to provide another suitable surface for conjuction of biomolecules. It was found that the encapsulation of QDs solve the problems associated with QDs such as biocompatibility and stability. The results show that the encapsulation of QDs in polystyrene particles grafted with carboxyl groups were subsequently coated with a thin layer of silica to form core-shell structure. | Source Title: | Langmuir | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/67032 | ISSN: | 07437463 | DOI: | 10.1021/la049610t |
