ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||An approximate method to predict the bending behaviour of rhombic orthotropic plates supported at corners and subjected to uniformly distributed load is presented. The theory is based on the principle of minimizing the total potential energy and uses a polynomial deflection function. The analytical results predicted by the proposed solution are compared with those obtained by an established finite element package.
