dc.description.abstract | A large force occurs where a pipe touches down on the seabed, during pipelaying or when the pipe is part of a catenary riser. The solution for a rigid seabed is well known. This technical note extends the analysis to a rigid-plastic seabed. The analytic solution is straightforward, and confirms the field observation that large indentations can occur, particularly when the tension is low. © 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. | |
