Title: | SHEAR STRENGTH OF FERROCEMENT BEAMS. | Authors: | Mansur, M.A. Ong, K.C.G. |
Issue Date: | Jan-1987 | Citation: | Mansur, M.A.,Ong, K.C.G. (1987-01). SHEAR STRENGTH OF FERROCEMENT BEAMS.. ACI Structural Journal 84 (1) : 10-17. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The behavior in shear of ferrocement reinforced with welded wire mesh was investigated by conducting flexural tests on simply supported rectangular beams under two symmetrical point loads. The major variables of the study were the shear span-to-depth ratio a/h, volume fraction of reinforcement V//f, strength of mortar, f//c prime , and the amount of reinforcement near the compression face. Test results indicate that the diagonal cracking strength of ferrocement increases as the a/h ratio is decreased, and V//f, f//c prime , and the amount of reinforcement near the compression face an increased. Empirical equations are proposed to predict the diagonal cracking strength of ferrocement. Ferrocement beams are found to be susceptible to shear failure at small a/h ratios when v//f and f//c prime are relatively high. | Source Title: | ACI Structural Journal | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/66152 | ISSN: | 08893241 |
