ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||A simple and efficient computer method for limit analysis of structures that obey the 'square' yield criterion is presented. A new method of generating mechanisms is developed and employed to systematically arrive at the collapse solution by operating on a compact solving system. The entire algorithm is explained using the principles of limit analysis, by establishing the physical meaning of expressions derived. The method is suitable for implementation in micro-computers and for use as a teaching tool.
