Abstract: Ceria octahedrons were synthesized via a one-step hydrothermal synthesis method using cerium nitrate and oxalic acid as the reagents. Morphology and phase evolution of the products can be controlled by adjusting the synthesis time and temperature. A self-sacrifice template mechanism is proposed for the formation of ceria octahedrons based on the experimental results.
