Title: | Application of expert knowledge based system in the plasma processing technology | Authors: | Rajendran, K. | Issue Date: | 1999 | Citation: | Rajendran, K. (1999). Application of expert knowledge based system in the plasma processing technology. New Review of Applied Expert Systems and Emerging Technologies 5 : 69-80. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | This paper briefly describes a knowledge-based expert system that assists and diagnoses the plasma processing technology for industrial coating process for different applications. Plasma spray coating is mainly useful for the deposition of a wide range of protective coating on an industrial scale. The system's knowledge is derived both from experts and from self-experience. The inference engine activates the rules over the knowledge bases of plasma coating process, devices etc. The knowledge base contains working memory and permanent memory. The present expert system can easily incorporate mathematical analysis by using knowledge base rules. A separate knowledge base was developed for coating of different materials and the plasma jet that uses databases in the fabrication line. The knowledge concerning coating materials and plasma torch are represented as frames and rules that are developed for making a decision by activating the frames. | Source Title: | New Review of Applied Expert Systems and Emerging Technologies | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/61849 | ISSN: | 13610244 |
