The conventional end-coupled filter design approach, which requires a very small capacitive gap length, is modified by using edge-coupled sections to replace narrow gaps in order to reduce the sensitivity of the filter. A 5% bandwidth edge-end-coupled bandpass filter is designed at 4.9 GHz. We filter prototype is simulated using an electromagnetic simulator and realized on alumina ceramic substrate. Good agreement is observed between the computed and measured results. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
