Abstract: "South China Tiger Affair" made image authenticity verification become a critical research issue. We propose a hybrid matching algorithm for in-depth image analysis, as well as an order regularity of scale space and a description for object rotation based on orientation of image gradient. Employing this theory, image tamper detection can be performed by searching the hidden information that doesn't conform to the imaging laws between corresponding features. This approach is of considerable persuasion and can be utilized in practical application. We conducted experiments on the "South China Tiger" snapped by Zhou Zhenglong, and the results reveal that the authenticity is questionable.
