ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||An investigation of the free vibrations of symmetrically laminated rectangular plates with stiffeners based on the Rayleigh-Ritz method is presented. The assumed shape functions used in the formulation are the characteristic beam functions. It is assumed that the stiffeners and the plate are in contact at all times. The effects of the locations and orientations of the stiffeners and their relative bending and torsional stiffness to the plate on the natural frequencies and modes are examined.
