dc.description.abstractThis paper deals with the transient response of a glass-epoxy composite submersible hull subjected to underwater exlosive shock. The doubly asymptotic approximations (DAA) method is employed in this study to describe the fluid-structure interactions. The fluid-structure coupled equations, relating structure response to fluid impulsive loadings, are solved using coupled finite-element and boundary-element codes. Transient stress of the composite submersible hull induced by the underwater explosive shock are studied. Effects of the explosive charge weight and the charge distance from the target on the transient stress are examined. In addition, a comparison between the transient responses to underwater explosive shock for the composite submersible hull and a stell submersible hull is made.
