Abstract: There are virtually no papers in the literature on the buckling of thick skew plates. The lack of studies in this subject serves as a motivation for the present study where thick skew plates under isotropic in-plane pressure, based on the Mindlin plate theory is treated. The study shows that the effect of shear deformation on buckling capacity is more significant for skew plates with relatively large values of thickness-to-width ratios and skew angles.
