Title: | Free vibration analysis of rotating circular cylindrical shells on an elastic foundation | Authors: | Ng, T.Y. Lam, K.Y. |
Issue Date: | Jan-2000 | Citation: | Ng, T.Y.,Lam, K.Y. (2000-01). Free vibration analysis of rotating circular cylindrical shells on an elastic foundation. Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, Transactions of the ASME 122 (1) : 85-89. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The free vibration of simply-supported, isotropic rotating cylindrical shells resting on an elastic Winkler-type foundation was investigated. The Coriolis effects caused the bifurcations of each of the three modes of vibration for the rotating shell. Increased values in the elastic modulus of the foundation caused increased natural frequencies which were most apparent for the transverse modes. Also, modes with higher circumferential wave numbers n were more sensitive to increases in k values. | Source Title: | Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, Transactions of the ASME | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/58316 | ISSN: | 10489002 |
