dc.description.abstractThe Brillouin spectrum of a plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) has been measured as a function of temperature. Discontinuities have been observed in the Brillouin shift and width near the glass transition temperature. The former is attributed to an abrupt change in elastic modulus, while the latter to the 'unfreezing' of the motions of polymer segements.
