dc.description.abstractRecent advances in the field of nanomaterials have given rise to several opportunities in biomedical research and clinical applications. These nanomaterials have been used for various applications, which include drug delivery, in vitro diagnostics, in vivo imaging, therapy and tissue engineering. At present, numerous organic/inorganic nanomaterials and devices are under investigation all across the globe. One such nanomaterial is ?dendrimers?. Although this area is known to the scientific world for almost last three decades, a lot remains unexplored. We have considered and studied natural amino acid derived, small generation peptide dendrimers as a platform for delivery of drugs and other materials. The main objective of this study was to prepare a library of small generation peptide dendrimers with various functionalities and their characterization. Preliminary experiments on uptake of dendrimers in HeLa and MCF-7 cells and toxicity effect of the dendrimers showed that these peptides are non-toxic even at concentrations of 200 ?M.
