Abstract: This study has demonstrated a useful synthesis of both amino S-thiocarbarmate and O-thiocarbarmate catalysts and their successful application for enantioselective bromolactonization, leading to the formation of halo-lactones with high enantioselectivities. Most importantly, both the R and S enantio-enriched product can be obtained by these proline derived catalysts.
