ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||Compartmented cooling coil is a key component of a newly developed air-conditioning and air distribution system at the National University of Singapore called the Single-coil Twin Fan (SCTF) system. In prototype experiments, the SCTF system has clearly demonstrated its ability to provide enhanced indoor air quality (IAQ) and achieve significant energy savings (12%). In order to evaluate the unique features of the Compartmented cooling coil, one CFD model is created based on a one-row plate-fin Compartmented coil which is utilized in a prototype experiment. A newly developed numerical algorithm for simulating latent heat transfer is coupled into the coil model which is created on the platform of commercial software FLUENT. The accuracy of the simulation is validated by experimental data and can be used for further parametric variation studies.
