Abstract: A diffusion process which is used for wavelet-transform-based image denoising was discussed. Spatial correlations between wavelet coefficients were studied by replacing the thresholding process with a diffusion process. Coplanar matrices were used to study the spatial correlations of wavelet transforms. It was found that diffusion process can distinguish and suppress noise more effectively than thresholding process.
