Title: | Synthesis, Physical Properties and Applications of Bisanthene-based Near Infrared Dyes and Semiconductors | Authors: | LI JINLING | Keywords: | polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, bisanthene, near infrared dyes, organic field effect transistors | Issue Date: | 5-Aug-2011 | Citation: | LI JINLING (2011-08-05). Synthesis, Physical Properties and Applications of Bisanthene-based Near Infrared Dyes and Semiconductors. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Bisanthene has good characters such as small bandgap, planar p system, to be as a good building block for electronics or to construct novel polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). However, the investigation on bisanthene has not been so prosperous because of its photo-unstability and poor solubility. Based on the knowledge above, new soluble and stable bisanthene-based molecules and materials are the major research objectives in this thesis, which include several aspects: (1) Synthesis of new soluble and stable near infrared (NIR) dyes based on bisanthene by substitution at its active meso-positions with aryl or alkyne group. (2) To construct more extended p-systems based on bisanthene via Diels-Alder reaction with dienophiles at the bay regions. (3) n-type cyanated ovalene diimides (ODI-CN) was prepared and its application on organic field effect transistors (OFETs). | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/32478 |
