Title: | ASSESSING STRENGTH AND STIFFNESS PROPERTIES OF STABILIZED SOIL USING THE SURFACE WAVE METHOD | Authors: | NIU YANLONG | ORCID iD: | orcid.org/0000-0003-3486-9057 | Keywords: | surface wave analysis, cement-stabilized clay, strength prediction, numerical simulation, time-lapsed inversion | Issue Date: | 1-Mar-2024 | Citation: | NIU YANLONG (2024-03-01). ASSESSING STRENGTH AND STIFFNESS PROPERTIES OF STABILIZED SOIL USING THE SURFACE WAVE METHOD. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The scarcity of natural materials for landfill has driven the use of alternatives like municipal solid waste and stabilized soil in sustainable land development. Traditional drilling methods are invasive, time-consuming, and pose environmental risks, especially with stiffer artificial soils. This study introduces a non-invasive method using surface wave surveys to monitor and assess the changing properties of artificial ground. Geophysical surface wave surveys, known for their sustainability and cost-effectiveness, remain underutilized in characterizing artificial ground due to a lack of quantitative research. This interdisciplinary research merges geophysics and geotechnical engineering to evaluate the stiffness and strength of stabilized soil using surface wave characterization. The study involves lab and field tests, algorithm development, and system design for real-time monitoring and strength assessment. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/249482 |
