Abstract: Despite increased adoption of floating photovoltaic systems (FPV), long-term performance data is scarce. This study examines the performance loss rates (PLR) of FPV systems over six years with a clear and thorough methodology. The study finds no significant difference in PLR between floating and land-based PV. Notably, PV modules in floating projects adhere to the standard -1% per year performance warranty. These findings offer confidence to investors, module manufacturers, and installers. Further investigations, such as I-V curve testing and visual inspections, are recommended to comprehensively understand and model degradation modes associated with PLRs.
