dc.description.abstract | Resting-state fMRI is used for brain parcellation to aid in neuroscience studies. The Schaefer parcellations, developed from a model combining local and global cortical estimates, lacked homotopic correspondence between hemispheres, limiting their use in lateralization studies. We've extended this model to create homotopic areal-level parcellations. Using diverse fMRI data, we found these new parcellations to be as homogeneous as Schaefer's, but more so than other parcellations. They reveal lateralization in resting network organization and task activations, align with cortical areas from histology and visuotopic fMRI, and capture sub-areal features. These neurobiologically relevant parcellations, derived from 1479 participants, are publicly available. | |
